PTSD: My Diagnosis

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-traumatic stress disorder is an anxiety condition which can occur after you’ve seen or experienced a traumatic event  involving the threat of injury or death.

Diagnosis is most commonly assigned to:

  • War veterans,
  • Victims of assault, abuse and rape, terrorism
  • Survivors of natural disasters, crashes and accidents

I was diagnosed with PTSD shortly after the birth of my daughter, who I will refer to on this website and my blog as Miss J.

I have neither fought alongside our brave men and women in uniform, nor been assaulted, but what happened to me in April of 2010 can be described as nothing short of a disaster.

The delivery of Miss J was perfect. But shortly after, I started hemorrhaging. With minutes to spare, I was rushed into surgery and the chances of my survival were slim.

I survived and officially became a veteran of a silent war.

For over two years I lived with PTSD. The road to recovery was not been easy, but I am a survivor. I love my daughter and I love my husband. I love our family and our friends. I love life. Thank you to my friends and family who encouraged me to tell my story. To those of you who have given me a shoulder to cry on and a hand to hold, you will forever be my Angels.

I am going to tell my story , along with the stories of other courageous women I have met along the way. I want to give you the background first, so please allow some time for the story to develop.  I want this site to be a place for sharing, healing, laughter and love. Feel free to ask me questions and comment on my posts.
